Q
will you make me a custom piece of jewellery?
A i would be happy to, you need to give me a descrpition of what you want (or have a look at my previous work in the galleries for inspiration) and i'll do my best to source the materials and create what you have in mind. but please allow me plaenty of time :)
Q
what is your jewellery made from?
A most of the necklaces are made from silver plated brass, brass, copper or alloy metals - i rarely use sterling silver or gold because this way i keep the costs down. i also use a mixture of beads - glass, acrylic and semi precious stones along with things like antique keys, watch parts and other found objects! earrings are always made from sterling silver or surgical steal earwires, semi precious stones, plated or copper charms etc.
Q
What about the hair clips?
A made from fabric/silk flowers, feathers, shells, lace and other exciting things i can find! they attach with an alligator clip. all are one-off pieces, although things may be similar they are never identical.
Q
Do you accept commissions for crowns?
A Yes i do, i am quite happy to undertake projects for weddings, proms, parties and even for things like christening gifts. prices will vary according to size/style and materials. different styles of crown (previous orders or crowns i have sold already) can be seen HERE in the crown gallery. i would need at least a months notice to make a crown from scratch. please feel free to email me if you would like to commission a piece or ask more questions about this sort of thing!
Q
How are the crowns made?
A I make them using a variety of wire - copper or silver plated with some coloured wire (all coloured wire is colored copper wire) and a mixture of beads. anything can be woven into a crown, i generally use some gemstone (crystal) beads eg. amethyst, plastic, ceramic, wooden and glass beads. i also have been known to use charms, silk flowers and leaves etc. the whole crown is woven together.
Q
How do you wear crowns?
A All the crowns have little fabric 'loops' stiched to the bottom, which are used with hair pins or grips to attached the crown to your hair. they work best when your hair is up or in little buns or bunches, to give you somethig to grip into. the crowns are fairly flexable so you can bend the points of them down as you wish.
