this is the entrance to faeryland, come on in and take a look at some of my faery related artwork.
Introspection

this painting took me hours to do, but i am so pleased with the result. she is called introspection becuase the time at which i painted her i was very much looking within myself, looking for answers to some stuff i was thinking about. so she is very personal to me! the pendant she wears is a labyrinth design, symbolic of the journey to your inner self.
Morgan Le Fay
i'm so proud of this painting!!! she started off without a name, i just knew i had to paint a face with a confrontational gaze, and eventualy this is how she turned out! the name "morgan le fay" sprang to mind when i was halfway through the picture, thats when i decided to give her celtic style tattoos. to me she is both a faery queen and a faery priestess.
this was the most unplanned in advance painting i have ever done - but i guess my muse was watching over me as i think it turned out pretty good.
Elanya the Faery Scryer

Elanya is a powerful faery although she would never claim so herself. she is a scryer, one who looks into the black mirror for images of a likely future. because of this skill she is very wise and is the best faery to ask for her advice and guidance!!
i love this faery - its an image that was inspired by one of my favourite poems (and incidentally one of my favourite paintings too!!!) "the Lady of Shalott" by Alfred Lord Tennyson. the lady of shalott also sits by a mirror, to quote from the poem:
"And moving thro' a mirror clear
That hangs before her all the year,
Shadows of the world appear."
it was this bit that inspired the dark mirror.
and there is another line in the poem .."tis the fairy lady of shalott". i like to think of her not as someone who has been cursed, but one who is part of the cycle of the universe. after all, if she didn't keep her eye on us, we'd probably all get into real trouble. when you hear that inner voice tell you to make a decision now, or to look both ways before crossing the street, that's Elanya at work!
Elanya the Enchantress

Elanya is also a guardian of the veil between the worlds, she does a lot of important jobs! here i have shown her standing at the gateway and comtemplating the spiral. she is an enchantress, a faery who is adept at magick, she can weave a spell in an instant. she will also give us humans a helping hand with our magick when she sees us struggling, provided we have respect for the faery realm. this painting too is inspired by "The Lady of Shalott" weaving her web.
The Lady Of The Lake

the lady of the lake is based on the Lady of arthurian legend, but how she appears to me. she is a powerful faery, very connected to her element of water, even the dress she wears is part of the lake itself. she rests on the edge of the pool, looking into and through the water, looking between the worlds. this is her side of the lake ... in a watery otherwordly landscape, and she looks down through the water to keep an eye on the mortal world. the lake is a potal to other realms and when she needs to she will cross through to the other side, her wings are opening ready to make that journey ...

Lady of the lake - detail
here is a close-up of the face and wings. her wings are rather spikey and full of light, they are fairly changeable like water and i have tried to capture that movement on the canvas.
storm Faery
this painting was inspired by a dream, i dreamed of a woman in a long flowing dress that was all the colours you might find in a huge thunderstorm. this work of art is the result of that image which i could not get out of my head. "okay" i thought, "she wants me to paint her!"
she is the faery who brings us the "storms" we need in our lives and helps to guide us through them. she loves to play in the rain, but is also the guardian of hidden secrets - hence the knowing smile!

ariana the creatrix

this is the faery of inspiration and creativity. she watches over the cauldron of creation and sees the potential of what lies within. her wings are bright and have the rainbow within them, but she also contains the dark, the void from which all is brought into being.
this painting is all about balance, once we find the balance within our selves we can create and acheive whatever we want to!
